Transportation Coordinator Jobs

A Transportation Coordinator in the logistics industry is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all transportation operations. The role involves organizing schedules, tracking shipments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and resolving any logistical problems that arise. They are also responsible for maintaining communication and relationships with freight carriers, vendors, and clients to ensure the smooth running of operations. To prepare for this role, interested individuals often start off in positions such as Logistics Clerk, Dispatch Operator or Freight Broker, which provide essential experience in the logistics field. In terms of qualifications, a degree in business, logistics or a related field is typically required. Certain certifications such as the Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) credential or the Transportation and Logistics Certification (CTL) can be beneficial and give candidates a competitive edge. Knowledge of logistics software and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is also usually necessary.
