Purchasing Manager Jobs in Massachusetts
A Purchasing Manager in the logistics industry is responsible for overseeing and managing the purchasing activities of a company. They play a vital role in sourcing raw materials, goods, and services, negotiating contracts and prices, creating and implementing purchasing strategies, and maintaining healthy relationships with suppliers. Their primary objective is to ensure uninterrupted supply chain operations at the most cost-effective prices. They also manage a team of purchasing officers and other staff and are involved in recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of these employees.
A successful Purchasing Manager should possess strong analytical skills, negotiation skills, and decision-making abilities. They should be proficient in materials management and inventory control, and should also have a good understanding of supply chain management. Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) can enhance their credibility in the field. Prior roles that a person might have before becoming a Purchasing Manager include Purchasing Agent, Procurement Specialist, and Supply Chain Analyst.
