Import and Export Manager Jobs in Los Angeles, CA

An Import and Export Manager in the logistics industry oversees and manages all import and export operations. This includes developing and maintaining relationships with customs agents, monitoring and managing all import and export processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure efficient and safe storage of goods, and negotiating contracts with suppliers and customers. They also plan and implement logistics strategies, oversee the preparation of commercial documentation such as bills of lading and invoices, and coordinate the transport of goods from the point of origin to the point of destination.

Important skills for an Import and Export Manager include strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent organizational and planning abilities, and a good understanding of international trade laws and regulations. They should also be proficient in using logistics and supply chain management software. Relevant certifications may include Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), or Certified Export Specialist (CES) certifications. Before becoming an Import and Export Manager, an individual might work in roles such as a Logistics Coordinator, a Customs Broker, or an International Trade Specialist.
