General Transportation Manager (Command Director)

This position is part of the NNSA - Office of Secure Transportation, Department of Energy. As a Command Director of Agent Operations Central Command (AOCC), you are responsible for managing the movement, distribution, and safe and secure transportation of nuclear weapons, components, and materials from points of manufacture, storage, or use, to authorized destinations within the U.S. nuclear weapons complex via ground and/or air transportation services.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-03 or GS-14. Specialized experience for this position requires: Comprehensive knowledge of the OST mission to develop and implement policy, effectively analyze and resolve critical transportation problems, and provide agency and/or interagency coordination involving OST transportation activities

This is a secondary position which must include experience as a Nuclear Materials Courier that demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the Transportation Safeguards System (TSS).

Examples of Specialized Experience:

  • Experience supervising and directing Transportation Safeguards System (TSS) operations.
  • Experience managing large groups of employees and directing TSS operations.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing policy related to transportation program activities.
  • Directing, initiating, and implementing operational and training programs relative to the TSS.
  • Experience providing guidance and solutions related to transportation program issues.
