Job Summary-

Transportation Coordinator (TC) is responsible for the daily dispatch and operation of the PTI transport drivers and 3rd party carrier resources. TCs will schedule and coordinate transport orders to ensure timely delivery of propane and alternative products to both internal and external customers while executing the supply and transportation plan. The role requires on-site presence Monday through Thursday, with Friday as an optional remote work-from-home day. During peak season, TCs are required to work five days on-site to support heightened operational demands. The role further requires availability beyond standard business hours, including after-hours monitoring, on-call weekend coverage for the entire region, and emergency response coordination for weather events, supply disruptions, equipment failures, and driver incidents.

Essential Functions-

Safety & Compliance: Promotes and follows the companys safety culture, policies, and procedures. Follows and implements proper procedures for accident, incident and injury reporting.

Dispatch Operations, Load Planning & Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and daily transport fuel schedule. Take orders from internal and external customers, coordinate with supply to verify availability, and dispatch drivers based on operating efficiencies, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements. Manage full-cycle daily dispatch from morning review through final dispatch confirmation, including load verification, error correction, and BOL accuracy. Analyze load data to prepare capacity plans, adjust routing to minimize empty miles, maximize truck utilization, and reallocate resources across regions based on demand.

Driver Interface, Fleet Management & Customer Service: Manage dispatch information in the transportation management system. Respond to driver and customer concerns. Track real-time driver locations. Manage driver diversions, lifting variances, paperwork compliance, equipment assignments, PTO scheduling, and coordination with the Driver Field Manager as needed.

Multi-Platform Technology & Carrier Coordination: Operate daily across multiple integrated platforms.

Cross-Functional Communication, Meetings & After-Hours Availability: Serve as the primary communication link between drivers, carriers, supply, field operations, and leadership on all transportation-related matters. Attend and actively contribute to operations, safety, forecast, regional supply, and East/West Rail meetings with camera on. Provide on-call weekend coverage, coordinate emergency responses for weather and supply disruptions, and cover dispatch responsibilities for other TCs as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities-

Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, Hazardous Materials Transportation, DOL, OSHA.

Must have working knowledge MS Office, PC skills, and adept at learning various software applications.

Strong analytical skills for cross-referencing data across multiple platforms

Ability to make real-time routing and dispatch decisions under time pressure, balancing cost efficiency, safety, and customer service.

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage on-call responsibilities, including evening monitoring, weekend regional coverage, and emergency response.

Education and Experience-

Two Year Business Degree

Two years of logistics or similar operational experience

The pay for this position ranges from $27.36 to $27.36 , depending on circumstances including an applicants skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales depending on position.
