Materials Scheduler Jobs in Austin, TX

A Materials Scheduler in the logistics industry is responsible for ensuring the appropriate and timely delivery of materials necessary for operations. This role requires planning, organizing, and coordinating the distribution of materials, often across multiple locations. The Materials Scheduler must manage and monitor inventory levels, forecast requirements, and schedule deliveries, ensuring that all necessary materials are available when needed. They work closely with various departments such as production, procurement, and warehousing to maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce costs, and eliminate inefficiencies.

For this role, strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial. Proficiency in inventory management software and relevant ERP systems is also essential. Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the Association for Supply Chain Management, for example, can enhance their credentials. Before becoming a Materials Scheduler, individuals often gain experience in roles such as Material Handler, Inventory Analyst, or Procurement Specialist, which provide an understanding of inventory control, supplier management, and logistics processes.
