Broker Jobs in Michigan

A Broker within the logistics industry, more often known as a Freight Broker, acts as a liaison between shippers who need to move goods and qualified carriers who can provide the transportation service. They manage the entire logistic process, from finding the most suitable carrier, arranging transportation to negotiating rates, ensuring safety standards and overseeing the shipping process. Brokers are also responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork and permits are in order for customs and regulatory compliance. They maintain communication between all parties and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the shipping process.

A Broker in the logistic industry should possess strong negotiation skills, an in-depth understanding of the shipping process, and knowledge of various regulations related to cargo transportation. They should also be proficient in using logistic software. Important certifications for this role may include the Certified Transportation Broker (CTB) awarded by the Transportation Intermediaries Association. Prior to becoming a broker, a person may have roles such as Logistics Coordinator, Freight Agent, or Transportation Supervisor, where they gain valuable experience in the field of transportation and logistics management.
