Simon & Schuster is currently seeking a Transportation Coordinator to join our Distribution Center in Jackson, TN. This position will support the Transportation Department.

DUTIES:

  • Review daily volume of outbound waves to determine all needed trucks, carriers and customer delivery appointments.
  • Ensure both domestic and international outbound orders are processed, and paperwork are accurate.
  • Monitor, track and communicate status of ODB and rush orders.
  • Work in conjunction with Operations and carriers to execute daily plans/schedules.
  • Coordinate with TL carrier daily to maximize trailer load factors to all S&S designated delivery points while leveraging the expected delivery dates based on shipping schedules.
  • Review routed orders for possible carrier changes to maximize efficiencies with freight modes.
  • Review and handle all daily exception reporting from carriers to ensure complete deliveries. Investigate problems and report back to Transportation Manager situations that need immediate attention.
  • Extract data from WM/database for equipment and load planning.
  • Create and modify MS Access ad hoc reports.
  • Communicate with carriers, dispatch, drivers and internal staff.
  • Coordinate timely and accurate complete closing of all outbound orders in WM.
  • Monitor and track daily open suspense reports. Coordinate action resolution when needed.
  • Support team using various customer websites, specifically Amazon.
  • Frequent interactions with Customer Service of possible order exceptions and all related transportation inquiries.
  • Support and perform all Transportation office tasks as required and needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Access, Excel, Word, Office, Outlook).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Warehouse Operations or Transportation environment, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, stressful environment and be flexible.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments independently based on immediate needs.
  • Ability to organize, evaluate and execute opportunities with S&S.

LOCATION: Jackson, TN

Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
