JOB PURPOSE
The Operations Supervisor job is to ensure that all departments within the organization are operating smoothly and in alignment. This includes addressing critical performance improvement opportunities such as:
- Ensuring Safety
- Implementing more efficient workflows
- Reducing Cost
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The basic duties include:
•Forecast, track, and achieve inventory levels and turn projections.
•Monitor supplier performance to ensure purchasing agreements are met, products are delivered timely and invoiced properly.
•Managing floor personnel to ensure everyone is staying on task.
•Adhere and contribute to company procurement strategy.
•Maintain vendor relations to develop new material.
•Strategically define and maintain products in online systems and subsequent corresponding systems.
•Assist in material data and organization ensuring the inventory turnover rate is within company standards and all products remain profitable.
•Develop an intimate familiarization with product line master records and product hierarchy.
•Works with other managers, directors, and executives within the company through proper channels to engage in capital projects.
•Monitors changes in the industry and develops forecasts based on those changes.
•Use forecasts to develop comprehensive strategies to further the company’s operational goals.
•Monitor prices by product and vendor to predict and account for financial fluctuations.
•Oversee production based on demand to minimize WIP and maximize Throughout.
•Must understand and manage vendor lead times to minimize inventory while simultaneously supplying the shop to run full production.
•Fulfilling shipments to customers in NetSuite and working with the Production Manager.
•Creating POs for sub-vendors and ensuring that quality products are delivered on schedule to ensure continuous production flow in the shop.
•Participate in conference calls to establish new customers and perform RFQ’s for new business.
•Assist in production to ensure production goals are met.
• Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
•All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business, Project Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
•3+ years of experience in purchasing and operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Ability to work with a cross-functional team without formal authority.
•Experience in manufacturing organizations which produce or assemble products.
•Proficient with current software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
•Strong customer service acumen
•Effective communication skills with all levels of the business and be able to reconcile differences in understanding and vision.
•Analytical skills
•Aggressive negotiation skills
•Mathematical skills a must
•Self-motivated, strong planning, organizational and time management skills
•CNC machining and/or programming skills with an understanding of G&M code.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full time, salaried position. Occasionally additional hours may be optional or mandatory to complete essential tasks. All work is performed on the manufacturing floor with occasional office work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Workers may be required to lift objects weighing from less than 20 lbs. to 40 lbs. on rare occasions. May also be required to stand for long hours on manufacturing floor.
