The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across key spend categories, with a primary focus on packaging and transportation. This role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, and process improvements while supporting organizational goals through strategic procurement initiatives. The position partners closely with business leaders and suppliers to identify opportunities, manage sourcing projects, negotiate contracts, and deliver sustainable value. The Strategic Sourcing Manager may also lead and develop sourcing team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies that align with business objectives and deliver measurable value.

  • Lead the end-to-end sourcing process, including spend analysis, requirements gathering, supplier identification, RFP development and management, vendor evaluation, negotiations, contract execution, and implementation planning.

  • Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities, process improvements, and supplier performance enhancements across assigned categories.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and develop procurement strategies that support operational and financial goals.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact with suppliers and represent the organization during sourcing events and strategic supplier engagements.

  • Develop and maintain sourcing roadmaps, ensuring projects are prioritized, resourced, and executed to achieve procurement objectives.

  • Monitor category performance, savings initiatives, and supplier results through reporting, analytics, and category reviews.

  • Lead the development and enhancement of dashboards, reporting tools, and performance metrics to support informed decision-making.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members by providing guidance, sharing best practices, and supporting professional growth.

  • Promote compliance with procurement processes while encouraging innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.

Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, or purchasing.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to align sourcing initiatives to organizational objectives.

  • Proven experience leading sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, and contract management activities.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring team members is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing packaging, supplies, and/or transportation categories.

  • Knowledge of transportation procurement, including small parcel, LTL, FTL, and armored transportation services.

  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships within packaging and transportation categories.
