Material Handler Job Description This role supports a new high-flow production facility by safely operating powered industrial trucks (PIT) and managing materials across yard, dock, and warehouse operations. You will move large and standard commodities, stage and deliver parts, and perform picking and putaway activities to help standardize and streamline builds in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), including sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and larger equipment such as tractors and 15,000 lb lifts, in a safe and efficient manner. Provide yard support by handling large commodities such as truck cabs and bodies, spending approximately 75-80% of the day on PIT equipment. Support modline and internal production teams by staging parts and delivering materials to the correct locations as needed. Perform dock support by unloading incoming trucks, moving materials off trailers, and staging them in designated areas, with about 90% of the day on a sit-down forklift. Execute picking and putaway tasks using PIT equipment, spending approximately 95% of the day on order pickers and sit-down forklifts. Use RF scanners and related systems (such as DSI or other ERP-connected tools) to complete picks, putaway, and basic data entry as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting yard operations and handling large, heavy commodities such as vehicle cabs and bodies. Comfort working with technology, including RF scanners and ERP-linked scanning systems like DSI. Flexibility to rotate between yard support, dock support, and picking/putaway areas as needed. Ability to adapt to changes in processes and support a new, evolving high-flow production line. Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with production and logistics teams. Why Work Here? You will join a growing operation at a brand-new high-flow facility where you can directly contribute to building efficient, standardized processes. The organization offers a once-direct path with the opportunity to earn up to three raises in 18 months, recognizing strong performance and commitment. As the facility expands and hiring continues, high performers have the chance to move into longer-term roles and grow with the organization. You will work in an environment that values flexibility, teamwork, and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to build your skills and advance your career. Work Environment This role is based in a new High Flow Line (HFL) facility focused on producing less customized trucks more efficiently. These are new positions supporting a start-up style operation, where being adaptable, going with the flow, and helping in different areas is essential. A significant portion of each day is spent operating PIT equipment, including sit-down forklifts, order pickers, and larger equipment such as tractors and 15,000 lb lifts. You will work around active production and logistics areas, handling both large vehicle components and standard materials. The facility operates multiple shifts, with 1st shift generally structured as four 10-hour days (4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with flexibility for five 8-hour days if needed) and 2nd shift as four 10-hour days (2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight). The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, and team members are expected to support different functions as needed to keep the high-flow line running efficiently.
