Procurement Specialist
Position Summary
The Procurement Specialist provides purchasing support for the district and completes general departmental office duties. The Procurement Specialist will ensure all district purchasing is completed with timeliness, accuracy, quality and compliance. The School Finance office will support the vision for Camden City School District by ensuring that the district orients financial decisions toward what is best for students and does so in a financially sustainable way. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Procurement and working closely with a wide variety of departments and stakeholders, the Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation of the vision and strategy that will guide the district's financial approach.
Required:
H.S. Diploma
Minimum 3 years of procurement experience preferably in the public sector and/or in settings that serve low-income students and communities;
Intermediate understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, including fluency with Word and Excel used to analyze and evaluate data
Experience and Familiarity with online accounting and budget software systems, such as Systems 3000.
Experience in procuring services and products using the formal competitive contracting process, state contracts, and pricing Cooperatives
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and follow up skills
A valid driver's license as well as current insurance and vehicle with valid registration
Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Core Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Collaboration with the purchasing team in handling the day-to-day activities of the Procurement department, such as reviewing requests to ensure compliance and maintaining updated documents
Assist the district through the competitive contracting process, which includes meeting with departments, creating timelines, bid and request for proposal packets that will, at times, need to meet tight deadlines, and maintain compliance with state and federal procurement laws; NJSA 18A:18A and 2 CFR 300.200.
Maintain strong working relationships with staff and vendors by providing strong customer service to all stakeholders
Creates and maintains purchase orders created in line with the approved District Purchasing Manual.
Distributes purchase orders to those necessary to receive products, accounts payable for payment of invoices and hold the stationary purchase order by purchase order number for the annual audit.
Assist with maintaining up to date Purchasing Manual and procurement documents and help to communicate to the district updated enhancements to procurement processes.
Assist the Supervisor of Procurement in providing training to people assigned to create requisitions, when necessary.
Support the Supervisor of Procurement in end of year processes like responding to OPRA requests, audit information and 1099 preparation
Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Procurement or designee

Minimum Starting Salary: $75,000.00
Maximum Starting Salary: $100,000.00
Residency Requirement
Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011areexemptfrom this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
