SEEKING an excellent communicator to dispatch Over-The-Road trucks and also to assist / coordinate / schedule our busy delivery division. This is an on-site position Monday to Friday - 7 am to 4 pm (80% in the office and 20% in warehouse) based in Sewickley / Greentree area. We are a growing 3PL with businesses throughout the Mid-Atlantic region - we value our employees and treat everyone like family. Responsibilities include:
OTR TRUCK DISPATCH:
- Monitors all trucks and is responsible to bid, negotiate, & secure freight for headhauls or backhauls prior to the truck becoming empty.
- Will be the lead contact for certain key accounts where a schedule is provided for our trucks to perform drop & hook functions.
- Be comfortable working with a dispatch software, load planning software, broker's softwares for rate confirmations, and client's softwares.
- Communicate effectively with all parties starting with clients, the drivers, and the brokers you are working with, along with colleagues supporting OTR Trucking. Must be comfortable managing drivers. Must be comfortable with negotiating with brokers.
- Must be willing to say connected 24 / 7 albeit not many calls or texts happen after hours if you are proactively managing these trucks.
SCHEDULING DELIVERIES:
- Assist the company's last mile division on scheduling customer deliveries.
- Must be comfortable speaking on the phone; then updating order management systems.
- Must understand routing and also day of delivery in order to schedule optimally with customers.
- Ability to multi-task and chase down information or sort through confusions / misunderstandings.
OVERALL EXPECTATIONS:
- Maintains a professional, efficient, and helpful approach to all tasks for the company;
- Maintains appropriate security and confidentiality in all aspects of the job;
- Punctual in-person attendance;
- Works both independently and as a team member on assigned shift, under general supervision with considerable independence.
- Performs other duties as assigned based on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED);
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at time of appointment.
- No felony convictions.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and attain and maintain certifications for local, state and national criminal history databases and associated tele-communications systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical concepts.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Deal quickly and efficiently with problems involving several variables and in familiar context;
- Communicate effectively and accurately in written (email, text, and software) and oral form;
- Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor, co-workers and the general public.
