Shipping Associate Job Description The Shipping Associate supports a full-cycle manufacturing plant by managing daily shipping and receiving activities for both domestic and international orders. This role ensures accurate order fulfillment, timely deliveries, and precise inventory control while working within a large, clean production facility. Responsibilities Pull and review the daily shipping schedules to plan and organize outgoing orders. Process daily shipping activities for domestic and international shipments in accordance with company procedures. Coordinate materials and shipments to ensure on-time delivery to customers and external partners. Prepare documentation for outside processing, ensuring all required paperwork is complete and accurate. Prepare shipping paperwork and contact carriers to schedule pickups and arrange transportation. Track shipments and manage documentation related to lost, damaged, or partial orders, escalating issues as needed. Perform daily receiving of truck shipments, including UPS and other carriers, for both inventory and non-inventory items. Verify incoming stock by piece count, weight, or length to ensure accuracy against packing slips and purchase orders. Conduct daily cycle counts and assist with locating inventory in proper storage locations. Use computers and the MRP system to enter shipping, receiving, and inventory data accurately. Support general inventory control activities to maintain accurate stock levels and records. Essential Skills At least 1 year of prior shipping experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment. At least 1 year of prior inventory control and cycle counting experience. Experience using UPS and FedEx shipping systems to process and track shipments. Ability to use computers for data entry and to work within an MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system. Strong basic math skills to verify counts, weights, and measurements. Ability to accurately track, document, and reconcile shipping and receiving records. Attention to detail and accuracy when handling shipping paperwork and inventory transactions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with daily cycle counting and inventory location management. General computer literacy and comfort working with shipping software and business systems. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and tasks throughout the day. Effective communication skills to coordinate with carriers, internal teams, and external partners. Work Environment This role is based in a large production facility with approximately 110 permanent employees across three shifts. You will work on first shift in a clean, organized manufacturing environment that produces hoses and related components from raw materials through to finished product. The position involves regular use of computers, MRP systems, and carrier shipping platforms such as UPS and FedEx. The dress code allows jeans and T-shirts, providing a comfortable and practical attire for daily tasks; upon becoming a permanent employee, you will receive a company uniform. The environment is structured yet supportive, with on-the-job training provided for the systems and processes used on the floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffield, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.12 - $21.12/hr.
