Job Overview:
The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all inventory control functions within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory levels, efficient material flow, and alignment with production needs. The Inventory Manager plays a key role in minimizing waste, reducing costs, and maintaining optimal stock levels to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily inventory operations including receiving, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished goods
- Maintain accurate inventory records through ERP or inventory management systems
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement and production teams to prevent shortages or overstock
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices
- Analyze inventory data and generate reports on usage, trends, and variances
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, and purchasing teams to optimize material flow
- Manage obsolete or slow-moving inventory and recommend disposition strategies
- Train and supervise inventory staff, as applicable
Qualifications / Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
- 3-5+ years of inventory management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems (ERP/MRP systems preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices (preferred)
- Supervisory or leadership experience (preferred)
Working Conditions:
- Environment is not climate controlled. Limited control of heat and cooling, hot in the summers and cold in the winters
- Loud industrial environment
