Forklift Operator Job Description The forklift operator is responsible for operating a forklift to load and unload materials and deliveries, ensuring their movement to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, or into trucks or storage facilities. Responsibilities Obtain copies of production schedules or shipping orders and transport materials or equipment to and from designated areas within the facility. Provide raw or WHIP stock to production machines according to the production schedule. Load and unload goods from vehicles. Move goods packed on pallets or slip sheets around the storage facility. Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions. Stack empty pallets. Remove machine attachments and waste material from machines. Dump materials into machine hoppers. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year of forklift operating experience, either sit-down or stand-up forklifts. Material handling experience. Proficiency in picking and packing. Experience with RF scanners. Skills in unloading and shipping. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months to 1 year of manufacturing or forklift operating experience. Ability to lift 10-30 lbs consistently.
