We are looking for a Receiving Supervisor to join our growing team! Function: As a Receiving Supervisor, your primary responsibility is overseeing the warehouse's receiving operations. You will lead a team of receiving associates, ensure accurate and efficient receipt of incoming merchandise, and maintain proper inventory control procedures to support the business's overall operations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the receiving team, including assigning tasks, scheduling shifts, and monitoring performance. Train new hires in receiving procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Oversee all aspects of the receiving process, including unloading shipments, verifying quantities and quality of incoming merchandise, and recording receiving data in the inventory management system. Ensure compliance with receiving procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
- Implement and enforce inventory control measures to accurately track incoming shipments, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain inventory accuracy. Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits to identify and resolve inventory issues promptly.
- Inspect incoming merchandise for damages, defects, or discrepancies and coordinate with vendors or suppliers to address any issues. Implement quality control procedures to ensure that only high-quality products are accepted into inventory and available for sale to customers.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the receiving area, adhering to OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct safety training sessions, perform safety inspections, and enforce safe work practices to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Ensure that receiving equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, is properly maintained and in good working condition. Schedule routine maintenance and repairs as needed to maximize equipment reliability and performance.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as purchasing, warehouse operations, and transportation, to facilitate efficient receipt and distribution of merchandise. Communicate receiving schedules, priorities, and any issues or concerns to relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to receiving operations, such as receiving accuracy, productivity, and on-time performance. Generate reports and analytics on receiving performance, inventory levels, and trends to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to the receiving associates to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and mentor team members to support their growth and development within the organization.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelors degree preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, receiving, or inventory control, preferably in the plumbing, lighting, or appliance wholesale industry.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a team.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory management software.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety standards for warehouse operations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment (preferred).
