Job Description
Position Title: Sample / Material Logistics Coordinator
Length of Contract: One (1) Year; Renewable (extensions)
Location/Site: Madison, WI - 100% Onsite
What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position:
a. Five (5) years of managing shipping logistics experience, preferably in a biotech environment (proteins, peptides, etc...) at a large multi-national corporation.
i. Familiarity with IATA / DOT practices and procedures is a plus
b. Five (5) years of inventory management experience, preferably in a biotech environment (proteins, peptides, etc...) at a large multi-national corporation.
c. Effective communication and coordination skills are essential, as is attention to detail.
d. Ability to multi-task and execute job requirements with minimal direction is desired.
e. Ability to routinely lift / push up to twenty-five (25) pounds (lbs).
Minimum Bachelor's degree / Masters would be over qualified.
Sample / Material Logistics Coordinator Duties:
1. Material Shipping & Logistics (0.750 FTE; Thirty (30) hours per week)
a. Shipping: Coordinate and execute shipments of primarily non-hazardous research materials, including temperature-controlled items, e.g. peptides, proteins, monomers, to company & other approved sites following IATA/DOT and external practices/procedures
i. 0.250 FTE; ten (15) hours / week
b. Documentation: Prepare, review and process shipping documentation, e.g. BOL, packing lists and US Custom forms
i. 0.125 FTE; five (5) hours / week
c. Receiving: Receive, catalog, and store chemical compounds (e.g. peptides and amino acids / monomers) received from other *** locations and suppliers in laboratory freezers.
i. 0.250 FTE; five (5) hours / week
d. Inventory Support: Onsite material inventory management, including assist with compound counts and maintaining accurate, organized records
i. (0.125 FTE; five (5) hours / week
2. Manage Incoming Receiving Area (0.20 FTE; Ten (10) hours per week):
a. Receive delivered goods, process Goods Receipt, and distribute incoming material to labs and designated areas.
i. 0.1 FTE; Five (5) hours / week
b. Direct onsite visitors to appropriate people / locations
i. 0.1FTE; Five (5) hours / week
