General Laborer - 1st Shift Job Description The General Laborer - 1st Shift supports daily operations in a feed mill by performing a wide range of housekeeping, material handling, and basic quality assurance tasks. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility by cleaning production and office areas, managing warehouse inventory, and assisting with routine testing and inspections. Responsibilities Perform general housekeeping duties throughout the mill, including sweeping, cleaning, and removing dust, debris, and spilled products. Remove cobwebs using an air hose or extendable brush to maintain clean and safe work areas. Clean and maintain offices, breakrooms, and restrooms to a high standard of cleanliness. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the exterior property and equipment stored outside. Operate a forklift and pallet jack to organize and move bagged ingredient inventory in the warehouse. Manage the storage and organization of retained feed samples on a weekly basis. Assist with quality assurance procedures, including corn particle size testing, finished feed testing, grain and ingredient testing, and magnet checks and cleaning. Record housekeeping findings accurately in the designated database to maintain proper documentation. Complete weekly and monthly audits related to safety, environmental requirements, and other assigned checklists. Prepare weekly mail and other designated items for courier pickup on the scheduled day. Follow established safety and housekeeping standards while working in dusty and feed-related environments. Demonstrate core values of integrity, respect, quality, safety, and stewardship in all tasks. Perform other duties as assigned by management to support mill operations. The position is on 1st shift and includes physical work such as lifting up to 80 pounds, climbing ladders, working at heights, and entering confined spaces. The assignment is expected to last approximately 4-6 weeks, and you should be prepared to work in a production environment where cleanliness, safety, and adherence to procedures are essential.
