Shipping Material Handler Job Description This role supports a growing local manufacturing operation by safely and efficiently handling materials and preparing products for shipment. You will build and prepare pallets, operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment, and help maintain an organized, clean shipping and inventory area on a first-shift schedule. Responsibilities Build pallets and skids to securely support materials for shipment. Stage finished product for shipment using a sit-down forklift and other warehouse equipment. Band, wrap, and prepare pallets of material to ensure safe and stable transport. Load and unload truck shipments accurately and safely. Handle incoming and outgoing materials, including moving, stacking, and organizing products. Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, and dollies in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of inventory areas, shipping docks, and workspaces. Inspect pallets, skids, and packaging to confirm they meet shipping requirements. Follow established shipping, receiving, and material handling procedures to support on-time deliveries. Communicate with team members and supervisors to coordinate shipping schedules and material flow. Essential Skills Proven experience in material handling, including loading and unloading materials. Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift. Ability to operate pallet jacks and dollies for moving materials. Experience building crates, pallets, and skids for shipment. Skill in banding and wrapping pallets to secure materials. Ability to maintain a clean and organized dock and inventory area. Capability to lift, move, and handle materials safely throughout the shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a small job shop or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with basic warehouse documentation and shipping practices. Attention to detail when staging and preparing shipments. Strong awareness of safety practices when operating forklifts and other equipment.
