Role Summary
The Procurement Lead is a specialized resource supporting the BridgeNet 4PL program on transportation procurement and
strategic sourcing initiatives, engaged to lead or support freight procurement events as they arise across the program's
identified opportunities. This role brings expertise in carrier RFP/RFI management, rate benchmarking, negotiation support,
and contract execution, with a focus on delivering direct cost savings through structured procurement strategy. The
Procurement Lead works closely with the Supply Chain Engineering team and Client Logistics and Procurement stakeholders
to unbundle freight from supplier pricing, establish direct carrier contracts, and build routing guide compliance frameworks
that deliver cost reductions targets on specific lanes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support transportation procurement sourcing events, including RFI/RFP preparation, tender management,
carrier evaluation, and negotiation support across target lanes and modes.
Act as an extension and provide strategic support with Client transportation procurement functions.
Develop freight spend baselines and market benchmarks to inform procurement strategies, identify cost reduction
opportunities, and establish target rate ranges for sourcing events.
Design and execute carrier direct contracting strategies for priority lanes, working to unbundle freight from supplier-
inclusive pricing and establish transparent carrier rate cards.
Analyze vendor-incoterm mix, current service metrics, and mode/lane profiles to identify suitable candidates for direct
carrier contracting and routing guide enforcement.
Collaborate with Client Legal and Procurement teams on contract terms, service level requirements, and data-sharing
SLAs for new carrier agreements.
Develop routing guides and carrier selection frameworks, embedding approved rates and preferred carrier
assignments into TMS/ERP workflows.
Track procurement savings realization monthly and expand carrier direct contracting to additional lanes and vendors
as the program matures.
Support leverage of group purchasing organization structures for suppliers that cannot fully unbundle freight or transition incoterms. Contribute to carrier performance scorecarding, providing procurement-perspective data for on-time performance, dwell, exceptions, and rate compliance.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE 710 years in transportation procurement, freight sourcing, or logistics commercial management with demonstrated experience leading carrier RFP/RFI events and rate negotiations.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Deep expertise in transportation procurement across ocean, air, road, and project cargo modes, with hands-on
experience managing competitive RFP processes end-to-end.
Strong freight market knowledge and benchmarking capability across key global trade lanes relevant to Client's supply
chain.
Proven negotiation skills with track record of achieving 1525% freight cost reductions through structured direct
carrier contracting programs.
Experience developing routing guides, compliance enforcement frameworks, and carrier performance scorecards
within TMS or ERP environments.
Excellent stakeholder management and commercial negotiation skills with comfort engaging carrier and client
executives on rate and service terms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in oil and gas, energy, or project cargo logistics procurement.
Familiarity with group purchasing organization (GPO) models and collaborative procurement frameworks.
CILT, APICS, or supply chain procurement certification.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Yes up to 20%
