Minimum Qualifications :

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • At least three years of related experience and execution of similar duties in warehouse/freight operations required.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

Valid Driver’s License

Job Duties

Essential Duties

% of Time

  • Schedules drivers for pick-up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driver.
  • Assists the Transportation Manager with prioritizing and routing drivers for regularly scheduled routes and urgent needs.
  • Oversees equipment availability; assigns drivers, trucks, and extra drivers when needed.
  • Consolidates orders into truckloads for specific destinations.
  • Communicates delays and route changes as necessary.
  • Maintains radio and/or phone contact with drivers; receives and dispatches response and emergency aid when needed.
  • Monitors drivers’ working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Assists with the oversight of maintenance and repair schedules for vehicles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    • Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and recordkeeping systems.
    • Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure.
    • Thorough understanding of shipping industry.
