Manufacturing Supervisor - 2nd Shift at TSI

This position is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the assigned 2nd shift production teams. The Manufacturing Supervisor provides direction, coaching, and development opportunities for team members. This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and employee engagement while driving sustainable cost reductions.

The core hours are Monday through Thursday, 2:45PM 1:15AM.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee production output and daily schedules for employees within assigned work centers.
  • Drive and monitor key team metrics for quality, delivery and productivity in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the development of operating budget. Maintain expenses to approved plan, or provide justification for supplemental expenditures as required.
  • Interview, select, and onboard new employees in support of the overall staffing plan.
  • Organize and facilitate continuous improvement projects and production support activities as part of a cross-functional work team.
  • Act as lean manufacturing champion within value stream and implement lean concepts to eliminate waste.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bottlenecks, process failures, incomplete or outdated procedures, staffing issues, supply chain problems, and/or training deficiencies.
  • Utilize quality management techniques for problem solving, corrective action and process decisions.
  • Proactively develop, implement and support systems to achieve cost reductions, quality improvements, productivity increases and service improvements.
  • Work with Material Handler to manage point-of-use inventory and Kanban processes. Complete cycle counting to ensure accurate account of materials and parts in the area as needed.
  • Train and assist team members on use of SAP and Visual Factory, tracking daily rework, and building new products or prototypes.
  • Perform assembly on product line(s) as required.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Supervisor is responsible for managing employees in an assigned area of operations.

  • Develop and support a team-based approach through daily communications meetings, working cross-functionally and reinforcing overall company objectives.
  • Monitor performance, give recognition and take corrective action when necessary. Conduct performance reviews in a timely manner for all members of the department.
  • Identify cross training opportunities and implement wherever possible to expand employee skills and flexibility.
  • Coach and develop all employees as opportunities present themselves. Seek coaching moments and help or provide suggestions whenever possible and appropriate.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain a high-performing team.
  • Define employee objectives, conduct performance reviews, and recommend salary adjustments.
  • Define and execute required training programs to address product, application, process, and technology training needs.
  • Mentor new employees during their transition and onboarding.
  • Work with peers in management to drive the execution of continuous improvement projects.

What Do You Need?

Required

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or related environment or 2 years' experience with a technical Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience implementing best practices in a production environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-mix, and low-volume manufacturing environment.

Desired

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • Experience with direct or indirect supervision of employees.
  • Experience with an ERP system. SAP.

Knowledge of:

  • Lean manufacturing principles and tools.
  • Leading, developing, and retaining hourly and salaried manufacturing teams; resolving workplace conflicts, conducting performance conversations, and applying progressive discipline in alignment with HR and labor standards.
  • Designing, documenting, and continuously improving operational policies and standard work procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP/MRP systems for production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Core manufacturing concepts including production workflows, capacity planning, quality systems, and floor operations.

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $85,000- $100,000 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
