Information on the division:

Located in Springfield, the 70+ employee facility (100,000+ sq. ft.) is one of Heroux-Devtek's centers of excellence for the manufacturing of medium to large complex landing gear and titanium components.

As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

Summary:

The Material Handler works closely with the shipping and procurement departments to file orders, ship parts, and loads, unloads, & conveys materials. They will accurately inspect and document all incoming and outgoing parts.

Main responsibilities:

  • Receives, locates, and transfers materials accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Opens containers utilizing hand tools as needed; counts and weighs materials and records information.
  • Identifies damaged materials and records material shortages.
  • Loads and Unloads materials onto and from a variety of containers including but not limited to: trucks, conveyors, racks, pallets, and/or trays; utilizes appropriate tools to accomplish task.
  • Transports incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas utilizing appropriate tools/vehicles including but not limited to: wheelbarrow, hand truck, forklift, electric dolly, and/or elevator.
  • Assists machine operators as needed by lifting heavy objects by hand, forklift, ceiling lift, or other approved method.
  • Stacks and assembles materials.
  • Documents accurately and in accordance with all protocols, such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts.
  • Performs required administrative tasks; prepares all required reports and correspondence.

Our ideal candidate:

  • 1-2 years' experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods
  • Forklift certified
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
