SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Production Supervisor II is responsible for a production team and department that runs on multiple shifts. This role requires someone who can maintain production lines and keep them running by ensuring that the production teams have correct pass downs/work orders and raw materials needed. The individual must be capable of troubleshooting the machines. The Production Supervisor II is responsible for the entire department’s production process across three shifts by ensuring employees follow the procedures and maintain quality and safety standards. The Production Supervisor II will partner closely with off shift supervisors, leads and trainers to ensure employees are meeting the requirement of the organization. The Production Supervisor II will have daily meetings with fellow supervisors to review the production schedules, provide priorities as needed, and review safety and quality issues as well as open action items. The individual in this role is responsible for meeting and maintaining financial plans and strategic goals by production output. If output goals are not achieved, the Production Supervisor II will report and evaluate ways to improve. The individual in this role will support the continuous growth and development of new and existing employees by partnering with leads or trainers. Additionally, this role will hold employees accountable by ensuring employee performance meets the requirements of the organization. The Production Supervisor II will be the back up to the operator for the shift, when needed, to cover for breaks, lunches, or other needs. The role is required to uphold and hold operators accountable for Toray’s safety and quality standards and processes by ensuring the SOPs are being followed. If the machine(s) aren’t functioning correctly, the Production Supervisor II should be able to troubleshoot the machines and provide insight to engineering/maintenance on machine issues.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Supervisor:

• Manage a department with multiple production lines. Make sure the production teams have correct pass downs/work orders and raw materials needed to run the line.

• Review production schedule to ensure production lines are running to meet target deadlines while meeting production budget.

• Ensure policies, procedures and other documentation are followed for consistent and compliant products.

• Recommend continuous improvements to the production processes and equipment.

• Manage and address employee performance and concerns.

• Motivate employees to maintain high levels of safety, productivity and quality.

Operations:

• When needed, act as the backup operator for multiple production lines by rotating lunches, breaks or to cover for operators.

• Understand how to set up machine(s), run the machine(s), catch defects, and errors without supervision.

• (TP) Support mix areas by making mixes and run the production lines when needed.

• When equipment and production lines have issues, troubleshoot, and provide solutions when possible.

• Work with procurement to order consumables, supplies, and raw materials as needed.

• Work with maintenance and facilities as needed to resolve equipment and facilities issues.

• Review work orders (WO) to ensure reporting accuracy before closing WO.

• Retrieve work order traveler and pull raw material from warehouse as needed.

Training:

• Work closely with leads and trainers to receive feedback on new hire and existing employee performance.

• Complete 90-day training and performance reviews without bias

• Assign new hires and existing employees to trainers and leads to ensure growth opportunities.

Quality:

• Train and re-train operators yearly for AS9100 certification.

• Educate operators on checking for defects on the line.

• Ensure periodic checks of the machines are completed in a timely manner.

• Responsible for identifying all quality issues on the production line and providing recommendations on how to minimize/prevent quality issues.

• Responsible for Production Technicians 1-5 by ensuring all quality errors are detected.

Safety

• Hold operators accountable to the safety procedures for PPE (personal protective equipment)

• Educate and ensure operators dispose hazardous waste in proper areas.

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

• Responsible for providing recommendations on how to improve safety for personnel.

• Oversee Production Technician 1- 5 to ensure safety and house cleaning standards are met.

Other:

• Train and mentor Production Technicians.

• Work with managers to develop training plan for production team as needed.

• Provide feedback to leadership or designee about operators.

• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership or designee.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates Degree preferred, at a minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required.

• 5 + years of experience working with composites or productions department. 7+ years preferred.

• 3+ year of trainer experience required.

• 5+ years of supervisor experience preferred.

• Must have experience in a computerized MRP system. MS Dynamics AX experience

• strongly preferred.

• Must be familiar with computer systems including MS Office and data base systems (FileMaker Pro preferred)

• Effective communication skills

• Ability to coach and train operators on assigned tasks.

• Support and manage a Production Technician team.

• Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift.

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Math and basic computer skills required.

• Ability to convert grams to pounds.

• Able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation.

• Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English.

• Able to work and communicate effectively with a cross functional team.

• Maintain a neat, orderly and safe work area.

• Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs.

• Excellent attendance: ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when needed.
