Inventory Planner
The Inventory Planner role supports perioperative operations within [Department information not provided] at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by ensuring the availability, accuracy, and timely distribution of implants and related supplies. The Inventory Planner plays a critical role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting surgical readiness, and coordinating closely with operating room teams, vendors, and logistics partners.

Minimum $19.95 - Midpoint $25.00 - Maximum $30.05 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.
Typical work schedule: Dayshift with weekend rotations required
Work location: Northwest Surgery Center, must be open to traveling to Houston Area Locations, as needed.

Responsibilities
Inventory Management
Manage daily ordering, receiving, inventory par level replenishment, procedure-based case cart systems, and PICIS stock dictionary for perioperative areas including Main and ACB Operating Rooms.
Perform daily inventory counts and replenishment of kits and supplies in assigned areas.
Receive, count, label, and properly store stock items using manual and computerized systems.
Inspect implants, kits, and supplies for integrity and expiration upon receipt and during restocking.
Determine inventory levels, storage methods, stock locations, and turnover strategies.
Assist with acquisition, control, reconciliation, and tracking of inventory and assets.
Perioperative Planning & Delivery
Provide operational materials logistics support to the Main OR and ACB/ASC.
Review operating room schedules, including breast, ophthalmology, and urology implant cases, to plan supply needs.
Coordinate supply and implant deliveries with MDA courier services.
Deliver implants and supplies on scheduled and as-needed bases between buildings.
Pack and unpack items for stocking and maintain overall housekeeping of warehouse areas.
Quality Assurance & Reconciliation
Verify inventory computations through physical counts and investigate discrepancies.
Check transmittal documents against received or delivered materials.
Document deficiencies and escalate issues to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Maintain accurate records to ensure proper chain of custody for deliveries and pickups.
Support compliance with hospital and accrediting agency standards for safety and resource utilization.
Data Entry, Reporting & Systems
Record and scan new implants into Excel spreadsheets.
Review charge nurse and chart reviewer implant log sheets to ensure replacement of used implants.
Input, retrieve, and interpret data from computer-based information systems.
Provide data for productivity, utilization, and inventory reports.
Assist with implementation of new inventory and supply tracking systems.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and clinical staff to meet materials needs.
Identify, seek, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
Determine items to be added to or deleted from inventory stock.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations

- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: 3 years Purchasing and/or inventory management experience. or
- Required: With preferred degree no experience required.
- Preferred: 3 years Purchasing and/or inventory management at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
