Job Summary
This job is in the Delivery family (Department), which includes positions the duties of which are to administer, supervise, or perform work involving the planning, directing, or operating of transportation equipment and service, including positions involving responsibility for driving, loading, and coordinating delivery. The Transportation Specialist provides corporate-level support to operating locations, including a focus on in-cab training of drivers. This position supports DOT compliance, driver training, and truck technology.

Job Function
- Serves as a primary point of contact for transportation technology questions across multiple locations.
- Identifies and reports safety and compliance issues for resolution.
- Supports system implementations, audits, and rollouts related to transportation, safety, and compliance platforms.
- Provides guidance and training to managers and dispatchers on DOT regulations, driver coaching, and technology equipment processes.
- Supports corporate transportation, safety, and compliance operations across multiple locations.
- Assists with DOT new hire orientation including driver training.
- Coordinates with HR, dispatch, and branch management to resolve driver and fleet compliance issues.
- Monitors, audits, and maintains data within transportation systems (telematics, SmartDrive, and BeWhere).
- Creates, updates, and maintains inspection templates for site visits.
- Assists with incident reporting, damage tracking, and follow-up to ensure completion of action items.
- Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
- Provide backup driver support as needed.
- Assist with special projects.
- All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Valid CDL Driver's license and a driving record that demonstrates a commitment to safe vehicle practices required.
- Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
- Knowledge of crash and employee injury exposures and controls preferred.
- Knowledge of USDOT/FMCSA regulations preferred.
- Familiarity with driver qualification files or fleet operations preferred.
- Experience working with routing, telematics, inspections, or safety systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and their interpretations required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including innovative and engaging ways to convey messages across the organization required.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
- Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, building trust and open lines of communication across the organization required.
- Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications required.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work weekends and off business hours, as needed required.
