Summary:
A Lift Truck Operator drives industrial truck equipped with various attachments or lifting devices such as forks, clamps, push-pull, etc. to pull, lift, stack, or move products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
90% - Equipment Handling:
- Loads and unloads trailers.
- Determines placement of product and transports to designated area.
- Positions lifting device under or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to identify product to be moved. Reviews customer orders and determines location of the product.
- Attaches identifying tag(s) or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Counts and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- At most facilities, completes a daily job card to accurately record job codes, order numbers, and timekeeping.
- Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Rethrows cases and builds make up units.
- Loads materials into vehicles; installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting/damage in transit.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Operates handheld scanners (RF Equipment), computer systems (WMS), and may manually input additional data.
- Refuels equipment: Fills fuel tank, replaces liquefied gas tank, or recharges batteries.
5% - Communication Duties:
- Participates in CI events as requested.
- Communicates internally with warehouse, office, and management personnel.
- Maintains self-composure in stressful circumstances.
5% - Safety:
- Completes daily forklift inspection sheets
- Follows general safety practices, including proper use of PPE and timely reporting of accidents/safety concerns.
- Follows food safety processes and ensures work areas are clean and free from hazards.
- Reports any food safety issues to UF Management.
- Attends and engages in safety meetings and discussions.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skill Set: Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Experience:None
Preferences:1-year forklift driving experience with clamp attachments.
Required skills/abilities:- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to follow company established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Self-driven initiative and the ability to perform tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to communicate well, verbally and in writing.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to count accurately.

Attendance:Strict attendance guidelines must be followed.
Equipment:Forklift, clamp attachment, slipsheet attachment, electric pallet jack, LXE, RF scan gun, inverter, telephone, two-way radio, flashlight, calculator, truck restraints, inductor, woodpecker, S.M.I.L.E 80, etc.
Software:Blue Yonder helpful; PC and printer occasionally.
