Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Buyer for a direct hire opportunity in Fremont, CA with a manufacturing organization in the electronics, components, and semiconductor manufacturing industry. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys supplier management, cost negotiation, inventory planning, and supporting production in a fast-paced business office environment.

The Buyer will play a key role in maintaining material availability, improving supplier performance, supporting cost reduction initiatives, and ensuring purchasing activities align with quality, delivery, and compliance requirements. This is a strong opportunity for someone who values teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, process improvement, and long-term career stability within a highly regulated manufacturing setting.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in purchasing, inventory control, supplier relationships, ERP or MRP systems, and manufacturing support. You will work closely with Purchasing, Production, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams to help ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Issue RFQs and RFPs, evaluate qualified vendors, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, and business requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and long-term agreements for critical commodities and production materials.
- Manage purchase orders, review requisitions, assess material requirements, and support timely receipt of materials for production workflow.
- Monitor supplier performance, maintain supplier records, process RMAs, support freight damage claims, and qualify new vendors.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, ISO documentation, ERP data, inventory parameters, and part number development for new products.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Quality Control, Engineering, and Production teams on NPIs, supplier PCNs, cost reduction efforts, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $75,000 to $82,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage procurement activities for production materials, components, and supplier services.
- Support inventory planning, purchasing workflows, supplier negotiations, and delivery coordination.
- Maintain purchasing documentation, ERP or MRP data, ISO records, and supplier performance files.
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams to support operational goals.

- Associate degree or equivalent experience, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the field.
- At least 5 years of related procurement experience, including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, and basic cost accounting.
- Experience in wire, cable, electrical componentry, electronics, components, semiconductor manufacturing, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience working within an ISO 9000 registered manufacturing company.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
- Prior ERP and MRP system experience, with knowledge of purchase order software platforms.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently on new assignments.
- Strong negotiation, communication, listening, presentation, organization, and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Dependable team player with initiative to resolve issues and address complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications

- APICS certification.
- Experience working in an ISO 13485 or ISO 16949 environment.
- Knowledge of international purchasing.
- Prior knowledge of ITAR, lean manufacturing, REACH, and RoHS requirements.
- Experience with Avante ERP.
- Background purchasing wire, cable, electrical components, or related production materials.
