Receiving Clerk Job Description The Receiving Clerk accurately receives, inspects, and records incoming materials to ensure that all deliveries meet quality and quantity expectations. Responsibilities Unload deliveries safely and efficiently, ensuring that all incoming shipments are handled with care. Verify delivered quantities against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices to ensure all items match the expected order. Inspect incoming materials for defects, damage, or incorrect items before accepting them into inventory. Check packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy and completeness, and resolve any discrepancies in documentation. Record received goods accurately in the inventory system and update stock levels in a timely manner. Label and tag items clearly, then sort and place them in the correct storage locations according to established procedures. Maintain accurate and organized records of all received materials to support inventory control and traceability. Report missing, damaged, or incorrect items promptly to purchasing or management and assist in resolving issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving dock and storage area, following housekeeping and safety standards. Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and production teams to support smooth and efficient material flow. Operate warehouse equipment and material handling tools safely and in accordance with company guidelines. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while handling materials and operating equipment in the receiving area. Essential Skills Experience in receiving, material handling, or warehouse operations. Ability to unload deliveries and handle materials safely and efficiently. Strong attention to detail when verifying quantities and checking documentation such as packing slips, invoices, and purchase orders.
