Packer Job Description This role is responsible for safely unloading packed cases from conveyors and stacking them onto pallets according to specific customer and carton requirements in a high-volume production environment. The position involves continuous physical activity, repetitive tasks, and close attention to safety and quality standards throughout a 12-hour shift. Responsibilities Retrieve packed cases from conveyors and stack them onto pallets according to customer and carton specifications throughout the work shift. Ensure cases are placed on the correct pallet and stacked securely up to heights of approximately 7 feet. Wrap the top of loaded pallets to prevent upper boxes from falling when the load is moved. Pull loaded skids using manual equipment (such as a pallet jack) to the designated area where a forklift retrieves them, over a distance of approximately 70 feet. Lift packed cases weighing up to 50 lbs from rollers at about 3 feet high, carry them approximately 5 feet, and stack them onto the appropriate pallet. Lift empty pallets weighing approximately 50 lbs from a stack and slide them to the end of the conveyor approximately once every hour. Construct cardboard tops to cover boxes that do not have folding flaps to protect product during handling and transport. Perform general material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, and repositioning materials as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with facility safety and housekeeping standards. Follow all production, quality, and safety procedures, and perform additional duties as assigned by management in a dynamic production environment. Essential Skills At least 6 months of production experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. At least 6 months of experience performing repetitive work tasks. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs safely and repeatedly as needed. Experience with general labor tasks, including material handling, loading, and unloading. Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift in a high-volume production environment. Capability to perform frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying (up to 50 lbs), pushing, pulling, twisting (such as re-piling loads), kneeling, bending, and reaching. Sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate effectively in a production environment. Adequate near and far visual acuity to read labels, identify products, and monitor pallet stacking and conveyor operations. Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse or production environment. Reliability and stamina to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse or production facility where standing for an entire shift and lifting heavier materials is common. Background in packaging, production, packing, picking, and loading activities. Experience operating or using basic material handling tools such as pallet jacks (padlocker duties). Ability to follow detailed customer specifications for pallet patterns and stacking requirements. Strong attention to safety practices when handling heavy materials and stacked pallets. Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and take on additional responsibilities assigned by management. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a very large production facility of approximately 100,000 square feet with a bright, well-lit environment. The building is not temperature controlled, so it can become cold during the winter and hot during the summer. The position follows 12-hour shifts, either 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., on a rotating schedule. Work is physically demanding and requires standing and walking for the entire shift, frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting. The facility uses conveyors, pallets, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (operated by other team members) in a busy production setting. The dress code requires steel-toed boots, jeans, and a clean work shirt, with no jewelry and no fake nails to support safety and hygiene standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.59 - $21.09/hr.
