Position Summary
This position supervises the Traffic Design Unit in the Traffic Engineering and Safety Section of the Bureau of Traffic Operations (BTO). This position is responsible for managing the bureau's signing, marking and work zone programs. This position manages the development and implementation of program work plans and budgets. The position provides direction for professional and technical employees who work independently to provide products or services.
This position is a member of the state traffic management team. As a member of the management team, this position performs highly responsible engineering and managerial work involving the formulation, development, implementation and evaluation of program, policy, budgetary and organizational components for the Department's traffic engineering and traffic operations programs. The diversity, complexity, and potential impact of the unit's programs require excellent communication skills and engineering knowledge. This position coordinates within the Department, with the public, local units of government, contractors and industry representatives.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (81-30) with an annual salary of $112,320-$124,474, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details

Qualifications
A qualified applicant will have the following:
- A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.
- Experience in transportation program or project management.
