Procurement Manager (Manager of Replenishment)

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of purchasing and replenishment operations, ensuring optimal product availability, inventory efficiency, and supplier performance. This role oversees a team of Senior Buyers, Buyers, and serves as a critical link between Procurement, Sales, Transportation, and Operations to drive responsiveness, cost control, and service excellence.

Pay: $88,000-$100,000 based on experience

Responsibilities:

  1. Replenishment & Inventory Management
    • Drive continuous improvement in inventory turns and working capital efficiency.
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing spoilage, excess, and stockouts.
    • Monitor demand signals, order patterns, and forecast accuracy to adjust purchasing decisions.
    • Lead procurement, and replenishment activities to ensure consistent product availability across all categories.
  2. Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 14 buyers.
    • Foster a culture of urgency, ownership, and execution excellence.
    • Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and support to improve team capability and decision-making.
    • Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability standards with support of the VP of Supply Chain.
  3. Supplier & Order Management
    • Manage order cycles, fill rates, and vendor performance metrics.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve shortages, delays, and quality issues.
    • Support strategic vendor relationships through consistent operational execution.
    • Oversee supplier interactions to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective order fulfillment.
  4. Cross-functional Alignment (Sales & Operations
    • Support sales initiatives by aligning purchasing strategy with customer demand.
    • Partner with warehouse and operations teams to ensure smooth product flow.
    • Serve as the primary interface between procurement and sales for day-to-day execution.
    • Ensure clear, timely communication regarding product availability, substitutions, and constraints.
  5. Process & Performance Management
    • Establish and enforce standard procurement processes and communication flows.
    • Monitor key performance indicators such as:
      1. Service level/in-stock %
      2. Suppliers fill rate and customer fill rate
      3. Inventory turns
      4. Shrink/spoilage
      5. Purchase price variance
      6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
    • Systems & Data Utilization
      • Partner with systems supervisor to enhance tools, reporting, and automation.
      • Leverage procurement and ERP systems to manage ordering, forecasting, and reporting.
      • Ensure data accuracy across item setup, vendor information, and ordering parameters.
    • Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
      • At least 5-10 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience.
      • At least 2-5 years of leadership experience managing buyers/planners experience preferred.
      • Previous experience in food distribution, grocery, or perishable supply chains is preferred.
      • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-SKU environments.
      • Ability to be data driven, decision making, and analytical capability.
      • Ability to have strong operational leadership and team management skills.
      • Ability to have deep understanding of replenishment and inventory dynamic.
      • Ability to provide excellent communication and cross functional collaboration skills.
