Shipping Lead | $26-29 HR Job Description The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in the movement of materials throughout the facility. This role leads and supports associates in the department, coordinates training, and manages workflow priorities while maintaining precise inventory records and ERP system transactions. The Shipping Lead also operates material handling equipment, verifies incoming and outgoing shipments, and escalates departmental issues as needed. Responsibilities Promote and drive a Safety First culture throughout the facility, actively encouraging awareness and continuous safety improvements. Support associates in the department by providing guidance, direction, and day-to-day assistance. Lead and coordinate the training of less experienced and new associates to ensure consistent processes and high performance. Direct the work of associates in the department, including assigning tasks, setting job priorities, and monitoring progress. Escalate department issues to the Materials Manager as required to ensure timely resolution. Receive, count, and verify the accuracy of incoming goods, including various metal bar stock, raw steel, flat stock, and components. Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders against purchase orders, shipping documents, and internal records. Confirm that materials received match what was ordered and route incoming items within the company as directed. Compare identifying information on shipments with bills of lading, invoices, orders, or records to ensure correctness. Pick, stock, and stage product orders while accurately performing related ERP system transactions. Perform daily cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory levels and identify discrepancies. Carry out parts protection and material handling tasks to prevent damage and ensure proper storage. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and overhead cranes to move stock and reorganize storage areas. Determine appropriate methods of shipment by applying knowledge of shipping procedures and carrier requirements. Prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, labeling, and stamping items as needed. Prepare and complete necessary shipping forms and documentation, including bills of lading and related paperwork. Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to coordinate shipments and resolve logistics issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in the shipping and receiving department. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and production operations. Essential Skills At least 3 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead role directing the work of others. Ability to operate a forklift or tow motor safely and efficiently. Hands-on experience performing documentation and transactions in ERP systems. Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs). Strong inventory control skills, including cycle counting and stock verification. Ability to accurately receive, verify, and route various metal materials and components. Proficiency in verifying shipping and receiving documents such as bills of lading, invoices, and orders. Capability to determine appropriate shipping methods and prepare corresponding documentation. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment with metal materials. Familiarity with inventory processes, including daily cycle counts and ERP-based inventory adjustments. Comfort operating various material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and overhead cranes. Attention to detail in handling documentation, labels, and shipping forms. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and maintain an orderly work area. Effective communication skills for coordinating with associates, leadership, and external logistics partners. Ability to train and mentor new or less experienced team members. Commitment to safety practices and continuous improvement in warehouse operations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Twinsburg, OH.
