Assistant General Manager

Are you a high-energy manufacturing leader who thrives on the hustle of the production floor? We are looking for a dynamic Assistant General Manager to serve as our Swing Shift People & Operations Leader.

In this role, you won't just sit behind a desk—you will be the heartbeat of our daily manufacturing operations, providing direct leadership to Production and Maintenance Managers. We need a natural coach who balances operational efficiency, labor allocation, and scheduling with a deep commitment to mentoring people and fostering a safe, positive culture.

Key Responsibilities

• People Leadership & Coaching: Lead, mentor, and evaluate shift leaders. Support training initiatives and build a motivated, productive work culture.
  
  
• Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day production, resolve bottlenecks, and seamlessly adjust schedules for live order changes.
  
  
• Fulfillment & Quality: Ensure 100% of fresh/frozen orders ship complete and on time. Lead timely investigations if targets are missed.
  
  
• Resource Optimization: Review and approve labor allocations to align staffing levels with daily production needs and cost targets.
  
  
• Maintenance Coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Manager to schedule preventive care and urgent repairs, minimizing downtime.
  
  
• Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
  
  

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience: 5–10 years managing teams in a food production environment. A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent blend of education and experience) is required.
  
  
• Technical Knowledge: strong familiarity with food safety regulations, production planning, labor scheduling, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  
  
• Leadership Style: Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and independent decision-making skills. You know how to coach under tight deadlines.
  
  
• Shift Flexibility: Comfort working full-time on the swing shift, with flexibility to adapt schedules based on production needs.
  
  
• bilingual Preferred: Ability to communicate across a diverse workforce is a major plus.
  
  

Physical Demands Based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be comfortable standing/walking for extended periods, working in cold, wet, or hot conditions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day bakery manufacturing operations. Direct, mentor, and evaluate Production Managers and the Maintenance Manager. Act as the bridge between production, maintenance, warehouse, logistics, and shipping.
  
  
• Production & Order Fulfillment: Ensure all fresh and frozen orders are produced and shipped complete and on time. Adjust production schedules to handle order changes, investigate order shortages, and resolve production bottlenecks.
  
  
• Resource & Labor Management: Review and approve labor allocations to match staffing with daily production goals. Maintain efficiency in resource usage to meet output and cost targets.
  
  
• Maintenance Coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Manager to schedule preventive maintenance and urgent equipment repairs to ensure safety and minimize downtime.
  
  
• KPIs & Performance Tracking: Monitor and track performance metrics related to production efficiency, output, and quality. Provide regular operational updates to Senior Management.
  
  
• Compliance & Quality: Enforce strict adherence to company policies, workplace safety, and food safety standards (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
  
  
• Team Development: Oversee the training and coaching of production staff on new procedures and equipment while fostering a positive, productive work culture.
