Experience: 3-5 years of experience in transportation, dispatch, or supply chain logistics, specifically with fuel, chemical, or hazardous material transportation.DOT/FMCSA Knowledge: Strong understanding of driver logs, Hours of Service (HOS), and commercial vehicle weight limits. Hazmat Certification: Deep familiarity with Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) standards. Dispatchers often need or benefit greatly from holding a recognized DOT Hazmat Certification. Problem-Solving & Multitasking: Ability to remain calm under pressure, make critical decisions during crises, and manage shifting schedules. Technology: Proficiency in modern Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch software, and electronic logging device (ELD) tracking.

Core Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance: Monitor driver hours-of-service (HOS) to ensure 100% compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and DOT regulations. Hazmat Oversight: Verify that drivers hold proper endorsements and certifications before assigning hazardous cargo. Ensure strict adherence to material placarding, routing restrictions, and safety protocols. Load Dispatch & Routing: Assign and schedule hazmat loads to maximize efficiency while mapping routes that avoid restricted tunnels, highly populated zones, or hazardous weather areas. Emergency Response: Act as a central communication link during roadside incidents, spills, or leaks. Initiate emergency response procedures and notify necessary authorities. Documentation & Logs: Review pre- and post-trip inspections, verify logbooks, and ensure all hazmat shipping papers and permits are perfectly organized. Driver & Client Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between drivers, shippers, and receivers, updating all parties on cargo statuses and potential delivery delays
