This position is located out our sales and service dealership in Swift Current, SK.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Fixed Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Truck Service, Equipment Service (Canada only), and Body Shop (in applicable branches) Managers run efficient and profitable departments through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all service and body shop records. Further responsibilities include ensuring that the daily inventory of technicians’ and painters’ time is consistently sold to customers. The Fixed Operations Manager also ensures that the Equipment (Canada only) and Truck Parts Managers are appropriately focused on the branch objectives, goals and tactics, and are managing profitable operations.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hires, trains and motivates the Service Manager/s, Body Shop Manager and Parts Manager/s.
- Directs and monitors all management or supervisory personnel functions for all service, body shop and parts departments. Completes formal performance evaluations of the department managers, and ensures that performance evaluations are completed for all other personnel in these departments, at regularly scheduled intervals.
- Along with the Service Managers, Body Shop Manager and Parts Managers, forecasts goals and objectives for the branch and strives to meet them
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Monitors and controls the performance of the service, body shop and parts departments using appropriate reports, tracking systems and surveys.
- Works with the managers to develop and implement a marketing plan which promotes new and repeat business.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
- Ensures that all customers are greeted promptly and given fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership's guidelines if the department managers are unable to rectify the problem.
- Ensures the safety of all employees
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Service Managers, Body Shop Manager and Parts Managers.
- Ensuring that the respective managers are hiring, training, motivating, counseling and monitoring the performance of all service, body shop and parts department staff
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
- Heavy duty truck/equipment technical knowledge preferred
- Post-secondary diploma in a related field preferred
- Five years related experience and/or training in a heavy truck/equipment dealership environment including at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
