Kelly Services is partnering with a rapidly growing manufacturing organization seeking a strategic and driven Senior Buyer to join their procurement team in Waukegan, IL. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys negotiating, supplier management, forecasting, and driving supply chain excellence.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Buyer, you’ll play a key role in supporting production operations by ensuring raw materials and components are sourced efficiently, delivered on time, and purchased at the best value.

Key Responsibilities



    	

  • Source raw materials and components through domestic and international supplier networks

    	

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery terms, and supplier agreements

    	

  • Manage purchasing activities, forecasts, inventory levels, and material planning

    	

  • Coordinate purchase orders and monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery

    	

  • Partner with planning, production, quality, and operations teams to support manufacturing goals

    	

  • Resolve supplier, delivery, quality, and inventory issues proactively

    	

  • Analyze costs and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements

    	

  • Maintain supplier relationships and support ongoing supplier performance programs

    	

  • Support R&D and new product initiatives with item setup and sourcing coordination

    	

  • Manage procurement reporting, open PO tracking, and inventory optimization efforts

What We’re Looking For



    	

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field preferred

    	

  • 5–8 years of purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing experience in manufacturing or industrial environments

    	

  • Chemical purchasing experience highly preferred

    	

  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills

    	

  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and inventory planning

    	

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills

    	

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

    	

  • APICS or CPM certification is a plus
