Transportation Routing Coordinator

Description/Notes:
Primary Purpose:
Coordinate daily school bus routing operations to ensure all routes are staffed and operated safely,
efficiently, and in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements. Maintain routing records,
ridership data, payroll documentation, and transportation reports required for Texas Education
Agency (TEA) and Elgin ISD funding and compliance.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent with additional appropriate education and/or training
required
Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
Valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S)
endorsements required
Valid Texas School Bus Driver certification required
Must pass DOT physical examination and maintain physical and emotional fitness
standards required for school bus drivers
Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Certified Drug and Alcohol Awareness Program Supervisor (Preferred)
TAPT Supervisor Official certification (Preferred)
Bilingual (Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Texas school transportation laws, regulations, and TEA reporting
requirements
Knowledge of school bus routing procedures, attendance zones, road systems,campus
boundaries, and individual school programs
Knowledge of federal drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 382
Ability to interpret transportation requirements within Admission, Review, and Dismissal
(ARD) documents
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and campus personnel
Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook,
and Publisher
Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare state and federal reports
Ability to train and provide guidance to adult learners, staff, and group of students
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years applicable school transportation operations preferred
