Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, processing incoming materials, and maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and promote a safety-first culture
- Identify and report safety risks or operational concerns
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Shipping & Logistics
- Coordinate outbound shipments (LTL, FTL, parcel carriers) and prepare bills of lading
- Prepare export documentation, including commercial invoices, USMCA forms, SLI, and AES filings
- Determine shipping methods based on delivery requirements, cost, and efficiency
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and freight charges
Receiving & Inventory
- Schedule inbound deliveries with vendors and customers
- Receive, inspect, and enter incoming materials into the system
- Organize and transfer materials for internal use or shipment
Issue Resolution & Support
- Resolve shipment issues such as delays, damage, or discrepancies
- File and track freight damage claims
- Partner with sales, export, and warehouse teams to support order fulfillment
Warehouse Support
- Load and unload shipments as needed
- Package and crate finished goods
- Operate a forklift safely (as required)
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
- Meets on-site attendance requirements.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with domestic and international shipping processes preferred
- Knowledge of imports preferred.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
