Provide hands on leadership throughout the warehouse operation by training, monitoring, and evaluating assigned personnel . A ctively lead s the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures the appropriate use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and maintains a constant vigilance for hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Active participant/representative on facility safety committee.
  • Active participant in BBS safety audits
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in applying skills, knowledge, experience, available manpower , and equipment to obtain the most favorable cost and quality of workmanship.
  • Ensures the quality and accuracy of product in accordance to completion of orders.
  • Develop and a ssist in the training and maintaining of an efficient work force in accordance with job requirements, work levels and schedules.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of SAP and applications that are associated with the warehouse .
  • Able to manage inventory flows in a complex, multi site warehouse environment.

Essential Accountabilities

  • O rganizes and assigns work in such a way that both quality and productivity are optimized .
  • Assist Warehouse Manager./ inventory coordinator with ensuring accuracy of inventory and inventory management.
  • Trains assigned personnel to accurately and consistently use warehouse management systems (SAP) with the help of Inventory Coordinator.
  • Trains assigned personnel in safe and efficient use of material handling equipment, as well as charging and watering procedures to ensure maximization of battery charge/life.
  • Knowledge/ability to create order download/good issue shipments.
  • Identify and communicate warranted improvements to both system s and processes .
  • Assist in ensuring all available options are exercised in product substitutions/repack to avoid customer backorders.
  • Ens ure a smooth shift transition within a multi- shift operation.
  • Schedules the warehouse team members to meet the demands of the seasons and facility .

Environmental & Physical Demands

  • Will work around moving machinery such as power industrial trucks
  • Must wea r steel toe shoes and other Personal Protection Equipment as specified by management personnel.
  • Extensive standing/walking while assigned to various warehouse operational task and assignments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and related experience.
  • College degree preferred
  • Moderate c omputer knowledge preferred: SAP & Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate power industrial equipment: Reach truck/Order selector
  • Five years experience in a high volume fast moving distribution center with RF bar code scanning warehouse management systems.
