Scope

As a Purchaser at NSM Canada, you help keep an important part of the client journey moving. This role will not only action and administer day-to-day direct procurement activities but also assist in development and implementation of governance and processes surrounding product master data, inventory usage and optimization, and industry-leading procurement processes optimizing the value of our products and services to our clients and our organization.

The ideal candidate is resourceful problem-solver who is ready to leverage their purchasing process experience to evolve processes and set the stage for continued success.

Position Reports To: Senior Purchasing Team Lead

Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Medical Supply and Equipment Procurement
    o Issue, monitor and manage purchase orders, inventory transfers, ensuring timely order placement, optimizing order aggregation to minimize freight expense, driving inventory utilization, and navigating any change to PO delivery timelines or back-orders that may affect fulfillment and impact client experience for assigned branches
    o Become a subject matter expert in purchasing and inventory allocation within regional ERP system.
    o Manage and support procurement metric and supplier performance reporting from applicable ERP.
    o Provide feedback and evaluation of current and new suppliers to support optimizing supplier performance.
    o Communicate and ensure awareness of supplier performance issues, back-orders, price and order form changes, and new product launches with sales and operations partners.
    o Resolve returns, exceptions, and non-conforming products.
    o Maintain awareness of inventory at alternate branch store locations to facilitate transfers.
    o Propose substitutions or alternate preferred suppliers.
    o Coordinate and manage inbound logistics and cross-border customs.
    o Support enablement of procurement efficiency though utilization of supplier on-line configuration and order management tools. Champion the use of supplier on-line configurators within assigned branches, coordinating and supporting training as needed.
    o Reconcile invoice/PO pricing inconsistencies, rectifying errors with suppliers and sourcing/supply chain team.

• Product Data Management
o Create, update, and maintain product master data files with up-to-date prices, tax codes, part numbers and descriptions.
o Approve and complete inventory adjustments in a timely manner.
o Ensure vendor, inventory and PO information within ERP system is continually up to date, ensuring accuracy and creating or deactivating expired codes.

Competencies / Skills

  • Strong grounding in strategic and proactive procurement principles, such as:
    o Cost-value balance, margin optimization and discount-for-volume.
    o Supplier relationship management
    o Transparency and data-driven decisions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with P2P cycle.
  • Proven ability to balance time-sensitive stock requests with maintaining inventory governance, and cost-effectivenes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, finance and cross-regional procurement and supply chain team members to create and implement procurement processes and data governance improvement initiatives.
  • This position may be a full-time in office or hybrid position with a minimum of 2-3 days per week on-site. Candidate may work from any of our 11 Alberta or BC location. View our locations at www.nsm-seating.ca/locations .
