Youth in Transition School (YIT)
Baltimore, MD
Keep Students Moving. Build Futures That Last.
At NCIA’s Youth in Transition School, this role goes beyond transportation and beyond instruction. You will be responsible for keeping our students safe, on schedule, and engaged, while also helping them build real, employable skills in the automotive field.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in running reliable operations and enjoys hands-on work. Someone who notices when things are off, fixes problems before they escalate, and can turn everyday moments in the shop into learning opportunities.
This is a role for a doer. Someone who values structure, accountability, and consistency, and who understands that stability is often the first step in changing a young person’s direction.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Transportation Coordination and Oversight
You will ensure that daily transportation runs safely, consistently, and without disruption.
Coordinate student transportation schedules and routes
Ensure all vehicles are safe, compliant, and inspection ready
Manage preventative maintenance and repairs
Maintain logs, documentation, and regulatory compliance
Train and support drivers to meet expectations
Respond to issues quickly and keep operations on track
Automotive Instruction and Skill Building
You will work directly with students to build practical, job-ready automotive skills.
Provide hands-on instruction in core automotive tasks such as oil changes, tire service, and brake work
Create structured learning experiences aligned with ASE fundamentals
Maintain a safe, organized, and functional shop environment
Track student progress and reinforce accountability and work habits
Use real-world tasks to teach consistency, responsibility, and pride in workmanship
QualificationsWhat We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED
3 to 5 years of hands-on automotive experience
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to balance structure with patience when working with youth
Preferred
ASE certification
Experience working with young people or in a training environment
Why Join YIT?
- Make a direct impact on student success
- Hands-on and meaningful work
