Job Description


The Production Manager’s primary function is to manage the process and the people in the manufacturing environment while maintaining all appropriate performance standards.

  • Provide input to pre-production group regarding job planning, production costs in scheduling constraints.

 

  • Steady improvement in waste reduction.
  • Monitor production runs to prevent and/or troubleshoot issues.
  • Evaluate operator productivity and performance quality on a continuous basis.
  • Maintain updated industry and machine knowledge for workplace application.
  • Work with staff to improve the accuracy of the shop floor data collection system.
  • Obtain funding for strategic and maintenance capital projects.
  • Develop and implement programs that comply with federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations.

  • Investigate all safety and occupational health related injuries/accidents. Implement all corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of injuries and incidents.

 

  • Work with the General Manager and Human Resources to drive safety awareness into the organization and champion initiatives to prevent injuries.

 

  • Training of other co-workers as needed for production demands.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Lead/Supervisor/Manager.

 Supervisory Responsibility

  • Must be able to motivate, monitor and lead subordinates to achieve appropriate performance standards.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and light manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copies, and fax machines.  The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and print chemicals involved in a printing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.

 Physical Demands

The following physical qualifications must be met to perform the essential functions of this job:  ability to bend, reach, crawl, twist, and lift at least 50 pounds unassisted is required. The ability to remain in a seated position for long periods of time is required. The ability to stand for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, count, measure, read, and follow verbal directives in English is required. The ability to differentiate colors, horizontal positions, and vertical positions is required. The ability to utilize fine motor skills while working on sensitive machinery is essential. The ability to perform repetitive upper body motions is required.

 

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Must be flexible with hours and work overtime as needed.

 

Travel - Minimal

 

 

 

 

Required Education/Experience

At least 10 years’ print production management experience is required.

Knowledge of printing, bindery, and web lamination processes is required.

Familiarity with roll and sheet fed, flexographic, and digital printing.

Label manufacturing experience is required.

Pre-production experience is required.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree
