JOB SUMMARY

As part of our recent growth, we are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform all activities associated with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, parts, outside processing, equipment, tools and/or supplies. .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Places purchase orders to vendors in a timely manner, as defined by the MRP system or purchase req's
  • Communicates with vendors to obtain price, availability, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Communicates with employees placing purchase requisitions to resolve any issues.
  • Follows up on purchase order status to ensure timely delivery of product to support demand.
  • Maintains accurate and complete procurement records such as RFQs, bids, vendor communication, purchase orders and purchase returns.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure purchasing activities align with the team.
  • Research, recommend and identify capabilities of potential new vendors.
  • Assist in various methods of expediting parts and services as needed.
  • Monitor vendor performance for on time deliveries, quality and responsiveness.
  • Take an active role in visiting local vendors for on-site audits or capacity/capability reviews.
  • Assist in initiating corrective actions for poor vendor performance.
  • Assist to resolve any receiving or billing issues that may arise.
  • Commutes between facilities as needed to facilitate purchasing issues.
  • Follow prescribed work rules and standard safety regulations at all time.
  • Work overtime as needed in order to meet the job expectations listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge or experience working in an inclusive work environment, particularly those persons with disabilities.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Windows environment including MS Office.
  • Familiarity with an MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to work with teams in a positive, cooperative, and assertive manner.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to travel within the Puget Sound Region.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and/or follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English through voice, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school education or GED; or
  • One year certificate from college or technical school (purchasing/procurement, engineering, materials and methods, manufacturing technology or business) and 3 years' experience in purchasing aerospace manufacturing or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

We have three lines of business; Aerospace Manufacturing, Aerospace Finishing, and Business Solutions, that operate in 2 locations. We accomplish our mission three ways; direct hire, vocational programs and services, and as a resource to the community.

Salary Range: $25.00-32.00
