About the role:
This role is constantly balancing multiple priorities across a number of lines and a large physical structure. There is a high degree of in the moment decision-making that takes place under pressure that affects safety, quality and production. Directly responsible for the overall performance of a shift or that of multiple lines. This role directly managers 15 to 25 operators/mechanics across multiple lines. May also lead direct reports who work opposite days/nights/weekends.
Purpose of Role:
Responsible for running the day to day production requirements across multiple lines with a focus on safety and quality. This role entails the following although not limited to just these listed;
Coordinating staffing assignments, safety activities and departmental budget activities.
Providing business leadership to ensure that team meets or exceeds Key Performance Indicators and metrics.
Driving continuous improvement and total employee engagement in critical success areas.
Optimizing efficiencies and reducing labor costs as well as improving throughput.
Role Responsibilities :
- Supervisory responsibilities are in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but not limited to training employees, labor planning, appraising performance, rewarding, focusing, and motivating employees; addressing complaints, resolving conflict, solving problems, scheduling vacations, and verifying payroll sheets.
- Ensure efficient production is achieved and standards are met. Optimize safety, quality, production, and cost objectives through employee involvement and team building approach to root cause problem solving and continuous improvement
- Direct the planning and implementation of key business initiatives to support the department. This includes GMP/ ISO / FSSC / CARM Compliance/ MMS. Is an ambassador for safety, compliance and quality.
- Ensure production databases are properly maintained and information used for continuous improvement and planning purposes.
- Support all safety and food safety audits. Will be responsible for investigating and instituting all corrective and preventative action items. Processing team should have a clear understanding of the goals.
- Generate ideas and implement changes in processes and use of equipment to increase efficiency, improve safety and quality, reduce costs, and improve employee morale.
- Seeks, shares and adopts ideas and standard methodologies inside and outside the company as well as embracing change that is introduced cross functionally.
- Builds and maintains relationships that motivate, guide, and/or reinforce the breakthrough performance of others toward goal accomplishments. Develops self and others to improve performance in current role and to prepare for future roles; seeks and provides feedback and coaching to enhance performance
Experience / skills required:
- 4 year Bachelor's degree (Preferably in Business, Management/ Engineering/ Food Science or Food Engineering) or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effect positive change within a manufacturing environment through diagnosing, designing and implementing solutions.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, direct change and build trust and credibility amongst peers and direct reports
- Knowledge of TTB and State regulations pertaining to the production of alcohol beverages is a plus.
- Manufacturing Excellence experience, such as 5S, Center-lining, RCPS, SMED, DMAIC is a plus.
