Forklift Operator Job Description As a Sit-down Forklift Operator, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our warehouse. Your responsibilities will include loading and unloading materials with a forklift from semi-trailers, organizing products within the warehouse, and working closely with customers to ensure timely shipments. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift to load and unload materials from semi-trailers. Organize products within the warehouse based on customer requirements. Coordinate shipments to and from the warehouse to meet key customer delivery requirements. Generate documents for customer shipments, including pick sheets, packing lists, and bills of lading. Receive inbound freight and verify contents against packing lists. Reconcile received products with packing list information and identify discrepancies. Create and apply labels to properly identify parts per customer specifications. Ensure correct separation of food-based and animal food products. Complete inventory control tasks as needed and follow work orders. Stay until the job is done if overtime is required to meet customer needs. Communicate with customers and carriers regarding orders and receipts. Promptly communicate any problems related to shipments, product availability, damage, or discrepancies. Essential Skills Recent experience in forklift operation. Material handling and customer service skills. Experience in warehouse inventory control. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred experience in racking. Preferred one year of inventory control experience. Work Environment Work in a clean, small family-owned warehouse with a tight-knit crew. The facility includes temperature-controlled areas. The shift is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime based on load completion. Dress code includes closed-toed shoes, jeans, and a t-shirt. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OSKALOOSA, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
