Job Details:
Pay: $19.85/hr
Hours: 2:30PM - 11:00PM (start and end times may vary)
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the CAS Forklift throughout the production day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Remove cages from semi for slaughter
Place on dumping rollers
Remove emptied cages and return to semi
Handle birds according to departmental Animal Welfare Standards
Responsible for daily pre-trip inspection of forklift and minor repairs throughout production day
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to successfully complete fork lift drivers training
Ability to operate forklift efficiently, within safety guidelines, in all weather conditions
Ability to work safely and effectively around moving machinery
Ability to perform a daily safety inspection of the equipment and record data
Basic maintenance skills required
Must adhere to CAS Department Animal Welfare Standards and practices
Willingness to work overtime and be called into work for emergency situations as required
Must be able to work independently to make required decisions
Physical Requirements / Environment:
Rarely (0-1 hrs.): climb or work at protected heights (stepping up into equipment), kneel, crawl, squat, crouch or balance, lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 45 lbs.), reach above shoulder height
Occasionally (1-3 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 10 lbs.), stand/walk
Continuously (6-8 hrs.): use feet in repetitive movement to operate foot controls, simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation/operating controls, sit while operating equipment, bend/stoop, twist/turn, work in or around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature working outdoors, around and amongst poultry dust, odor and blood, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
External Requirement: 6-month Production and/or forklift (or similar equipment) experience listed on the application (can be a combination of employers as long as total experience is at least 6 months).
Rehire Consideration:
- Max of two (2) previous Tyson Employments to be considered for hire.
- 90 days (3 months) waiting period.
