Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Feed Haul Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily coordination and execution of feed delivery operations. This position directly supervises company CDL feed drivers in alignment with company policies and applicable regulations. Key responsibilities include interviewing and training drivers, planning and assigning routes, evaluating performance, and addressing concerns or disciplinary matters as needed.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, timely, and biosecure delivery of feed to protect herd health, while maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company standards. The supervisor collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders including Feed Order Department (FOD), Feed Mill Operations, and Transportation to support seamless logistics and operational excellence.

What You Wil Do:

  • Develops and manages daily schedules for company and contract drivers based on availability and driver classification.
  • Coordinates with the Feed Order Department, Feed Mill Operations, and Transportation teams to ensure timely and accurate feed delivery.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in processes, methods, training, safety, and asset management.
  • Analyzes monthly cost statements to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring new CDL drivers.
  • Conducts ride-alongs with drivers and documents performance observations for coaching and development.
  • Performs equipment and driver audits to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Ensures full compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations; provides and recommends training as necessary.
  • Enforces biosecurity policies and ensures adherence among company and contract drivers.
  • Collaborates with Feed Order and Mill Loadout representatives to coordinate feed delivery logistics.
  • Oversees maintenance and upkeep of feed haul equipment including tractors, trailers, and vac-trucks.
  • Coordinates movement of equipment to internal or external maintenance resources as needed.
  • Works with the Safety Department to ensure CDL drivers are properly trained, certified, and consistently follow safe practices.
  • Serves as the primary contact for addressing CDL driver performance issues and managing DOT compliance documentation.
  • Investigates and resolves transportation and customer service issues related to feed delivery.
  • Develops creative solutions to address logistical challenges and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maximizes truck and route utilization to improve delivery efficiency and service accuracy.
  • Oversees feed retrieval logistics, including driver communication and scheduling for optimal execution.
  • Supports feed logistics-related projects and improvement initiatives as assigned.

  • Ensures the department's production processes are carried out correctly;
  • Sets daily and weekly priorities, ensuring reasonable workloads;
  • In addition, supervisors teach new procedures and sometimes fill in for employees who are absent;
  • They help solve tactical problems that employees are having with their jobs.
