About the role Reporting to the Facility / Plant Manager, the Operations Manager oversees the Power Plant's operational responsibilities and requirements, leading a team of direct and indirect reports. The role provides opportunities to learn, develop and grow at the plant or at other plants in the company. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Deliver superior environmental, health, and safety leadership to ensure no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to the environment while ensuring compliance with all permit requirements. Provide leadership, vision, direction, and coaching to effectively lead the team to deliver against the business objectives for the operation and achieve KPIs. Effectively organize work and projects with other departments and ensure proper and efficient daily work of all operations team members. Administer and supervise studies to improve plant operations and equipment operations, and monitor the effectiveness of plant manuals and procedures, instituting changes or additions, as required. Provide assurance of compliance to procedures through auditing. Ensure the plant's readiness to meet unusual situations and safe, efficient day-to-day operations. Proficiently inspect boilers and machinery to meet plant performance targets. Manage, track, and implement established technical training programs, as required, and develop new training, as needed. Oversee and/or compile and present various technical reports. Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the operations areas to maintain a safe working environment Other duties as assigned Working Conditions: The plant is 24x7 with hourly employees working 12-hr rotating shifts Industrial, plant environment Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Engineering or related degree; 10 years of plant operations supervisory/managerial experience will be accepted in lieu of degree. Experience to include power plant operations, or high-pressure boiler experience with a sound understanding of power plant operations Materials processing experience (conveyors, cranes, hoppers, etc.) The ASME, QRO/CFO Certification is desirable, or must be able to qualify for this certification (or any other required certification) within six months of employment. Preferred Qualifications: 8 or more years of experience in a supervisory or managerial level role in an industrial or power generating facility Experience in a specialty chemical plant, environment with significant material handling, or coal fired power plant is highly preferred Maintenance experience with outages, rotating and electrical generation equipment (turbine, generator, etc.) Experience in or knowledge of one or more these: Electrical and controls systems Air compressors Condensate pumps Cooling water systems Understanding of solid fuel combustion practices and materials handling processes Continuous Improvement/Lean Certification Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications, and organizational skills Off-hours and on call work may be required Career growth oriented Hands-on, analytical approach Ability to learn quickly Trouble shooting, Root Cause Analysis Physical Requirements: Stay alert while standing or sitting for long periods of time Work in close quarters and confined spaces Climb ladders, stairs, and structures Tolerate heights Tolerate high temperatures Lift up to 50 pounds Pre-hire drug testing and medical checks will be conducted The annual salary for this position is between $128,493 - $164,433. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location.
